Day 7 // Fourth of July

Happy Fourth of July everyone! What a soggy day we are having here in New Jersey! Our RV park in a little bit flooded but nothing too bad. The rain is supposed to let up here soon (around 4) and then the wind is supposed to hit. Mark got a lot of work done today and I did some laundry. How we had so much laundry after only a week is a little bit confusing to me, but oh well. It seemed everyone else had the same idea about laundry day. I felt like I was back in college playing the “do I wait a few more minutes to see if the person comes back for their clothes or do I take them out of the washer myself.” Luckily, the person came back mid thought and took care of their clothes and washers were available! I realize this is not earth-shattering reading material, but hey.

Hopefully the weather clears up and we can head out to the Jersey Shore, MTV style later (Seaside Heights) today!! And then hopefully we can see some fireworks later too!

update:

It did clear up, kinda. It stopped raining but it got very windy. Thanks Arthur. We did make it to Seaside Heights and we got to see the Jersey Shore House! It looked just like the TV show but somehow still wasn’t what I was expecting. Either way, it was fun! However, fireworks are cancelled all around this area so we are back in the RV binge watching Breaking Bad for the night.

Day 6 // Cape May & Atlantic City, NJ

We saw the beach and I couldn’t be happier!! I am a beach girl at heart and nothing makes me happier than sun, sand and the ocean. It was only a short 45 minute drive from our Philly RV Park to where we are staying in Southern New Jersey for a few nights! Luckily they let us check in early to our spot and we headed right down to Cape May, NJ. We stopped first at the light house. Only 199 steps to the top and what a view it was!

We walked over to the beach and took a little stroll around. Gosh I love the beach!

Now that we finally hit the coast, we needed some good old fashioned seafood to satisfy our bellies! We stopped at “The Lobster House” for lunch. It was overly busy and the food was so-so. We weren’t overly impressed with our first east coast seafood experience but it was fresh seafood nonetheless! Yum! We went from cheesesteak to fresh seafood, can’t complain!

Next we walked around the the little city center. It was such a quaint little town. So perfect. There were plenty of old fashioned houses with fantastic front porches that were just begging for someone to sit on them and read a good book. Maybe one day on this #RVhoneymoon we will indulge ourselves and do just that.

Then we headed up to Atlantic City and walked on the boardwalk. I’ve never been to Atlantic City but it is basically a mini Vegas on the beach. Pretty cool! As soon as we walked into a casino, I really left like I was in Vegas. Neither one of us like to gamble but we did put $1 in a penny machine just for fun. We lost it all. We spent most of our time on the boardwalk, walking around.

It just so happened that the World Cup of Sandcastle building was happening/happened at the beach! It was currently happening as in the sculptures were still there but all the activity and judging and stuff had already happened. We ate some dinner and then headed home.

The best part about this day was… spotting the Breaking Bad RV!!!!! We started watching Breaking Bad on day 1 of #RVhoneymoon because it just seemed so fitting. We can’t decided if we are super into the show yet, but we made it to season 2 so there is no turning back  now.

Tomorrow Hurricane Arthur is supposed to hit Atlantic City so we have planned a pretty low key day of catching up on work, sleep and probably some Breaking Bad. Can’t believe it has only been a week of #RVhoneymoon. We’ve done sooo much and can’t wait to see what the rest of our trip has in store for us!
